Guilty Gear Strive Season Pass 4: Jam Kuradoberi
UPDATE:: July 21st 2024 - Damnit!!! We'll try again in 2025..... As a long-time fan of Guilty Gear and a Chipp main myself, I've seen many fighters come and go, but few have left a mark quite like Jam. With the announcement of Season 4 for Guilty Gear Strive, my anticipation is through the roof. But I feel like something or someone is still missing. Arc System Works has always kept us on our toes. This time, my hopes are high for Jam. Here’s why bringing her back would be a game changer for Strive.

The Magic of Jam Kuradoberi
Jam is more than just a fighter; she’s a whirlwind of energy, a beacon of spirit, and a martial arts powerhouse. Her high-speed martial arts and powerful kicks set her apart from other characters. Jam’s gameplay revolves around her Ki, a resource that players can charge to enhance her moves, making her a versatile and dynamic character to master.
Unique Playstyle
One of Jam’s unique features is her card system. By charging her Ki, Jam can power up her special moves: Gekirin, Ryuujin, and Kenroukaku. This mechanic adds depth and makes her adaptable. Whether you’re zoning, rushing down, or playing defensively, Jam has tools for any strategy.
- Gekirin (Descending Flame): A powerful overhead kick that can crush opponents from above.
- Ryuujin (Dragon Blade): A fast, flying kick that can be used to close distances or as a combo finisher.
- Kenroukaku (Dragon's Roar): An anti-air move that can punish airborne adversaries effectively.
These moves, along with her Blitz Up mechanic for canceling and extending combos, make Jam a technical and rewarding character for those willing to learn.
The Community’s Voice
The Guilty Gear community is passionate and vocal. We see many discussions, fan art, and move set theories online, hoping for Jam’s return. On Reddit and Twitter, fans talk about her impact and share their excitement for her comeback. Many still play Rev2 (GUILTY GEAR Xrd REV 2) and XXAC+R (GUILTY GEAR XX ACCENT CORE PLUS R) to keep their Jam skills sharp. Her absence in Strive has been deeply felt, especially by those who’ve enjoyed her unique combat style since Guilty Gear X. Her vibrant personality and distinct fighting style brought fresh energy to the series, making her a staple in many players' rosters. Personally, I miss Jam as an opponent. Her versatility kept me guessing and creating new strategies. She's my partner's main, and I haven't had a decent match with her since Strive dropped. Giovanna is great, but it hasn't been the same.

Why Jam Would Thrive in Strive
Guilty Gear Strive introduced a more streamlined and accessible approach to gameplay, which makes it the perfect environment for Jam’s mechanics. The revamped combat system would only amplify her dynamic presence. Imagine Jam’s high-speed kicks and fluid movements brought to life with Strive’s stunning graphics and smooth gameplay. It’s a match made in heaven (or hell). Strive’s focus on character uniqueness and playstyle differentiation means Jam would not only fit in but stand out. Her ki-charging mechanic would add a layer of strategy that could complement the existing roster while providing a fresh challenge for players old and new. The argument could be made that she doesn't have a place in the current story. However, the game is missing a mediator to resolve disputes and mentor individuals. Her resolve, natural aversion to self, and her philosophy of existing simply because you exist, could create personal connections in a world recovering from conflict.
Final Thoughts
As a die-hard Guilty Gear fan, I’ve seen the highs and lows of the series, and one thing remains constant: my admiration for Jam Kuradoberi. She embodies what makes Guilty Gear special—innovation, excitement, and unpredictability. With the new season of Guilty Gear Strive on the horizon, there’s no better time for Arc System Works to bring back our beloved martial artist. Let’s hope the developers are listening and that the 2003, 2009, 2017, and All Region's Top 10 "Playable Character you'd like to see in Guilty Gear -Strive" Fan Favorite will return to the arena soon. Until then, I’ll keep my fingers crossed and my Ki charged. The smell of the game? Cloudberry Jam.
